Summertime is among us and most of us don’t realize how much the heat can dehydrate us in a matter of minutes. Below I have put together some hints and tips on how to stay hydrated throughout the summertime heat!
1. Drink Water Before
You can never have enough water. Our bodies are made up of 60% of water! If you plan on heading out into the heat for a few hours, drink up to a gallon of water a couples day in advance of heading out! Keep drinking water while out in the heat too! It is recommended that you should be drinking about 16-32 ounces of water every hour while in the heat.
2. Drink Water After
To keep replenishing your body of water, keep drinking water after being out in the heat, for optimal hydration.
Be wary of food intake! Some foods contain a high amount of sodium, which will make you incredibly thirsty and dehydrate you at the same time. I hear a lot to drink lemon water to stay hydrated. Actually, this is false. Lemon is a natural diuretic! This means the lemon water will make you lose water faster than keeping it in! But, eating melons, berries and tomatoes are full of water as well as cucumbers.
4. Stay Out of The Heat
If you know you will be in the heat for a long period of time, try your best to stay cool 24 hours before heading into the heat. This will help you retain a normal body temperature as well as retain the water and electrolytes.
5. Water Alternatives
I know how hard it is to drink enough water every day, but it’s even harder to drink water for 48 hours straight and then some if being in the heat. The next best water alternative is called Hydrant! Drinking Hydrant once in the morning and right before bed gives you the optimal hydration your body needs to be a better you! Hydrant’s unique ingredient blend allows you to absorb water more efficiently, think of it like a hydrant that sends water quickly and efficiently to your cells. My favorite flavor anything is grapefruit so I cannot wait to try Hydrant’s Grapefruit Flavor.
